New design. Or maybe I should say variation on something I’ve done in the past. This past week, instead of trying to be efficient or cost effective, I gave myself permission to spend as much (or little) time on work so even though this is a small, soup-sized bowl, I decorated both the inside and outside of it.
I rather like the inside.

SO hard to get started after a long break and in a cold studio. But I did it! Here’s a little reel of my morning. Starting out slow-normally I try to throw a board of 12-15 mugs but I really love bowls, so this was more fun.
Tomorrow I have to trim them all.

IG keeps telling me to make a reel from old stories so here’s one, I don’t own a slab roller, nor do I really have space for one, so I always throw out my slabs and use two flat pieces of wood to regulate the thickness. I find the fine weave of a sheet invaluable for transferring large slabs.

I took notes because the studio is closed for the winter and I could easily forget the steps in the interim! Both bowls have been sold so I have only my photos for reference. And as many of you know, the order in which one does things is key in ceramics.
